American Idol Top 10 Power Rankings: David Archuleta ahead
It hurts my brain to do these American Idol rankings. The mere act of placing David Archuleta ahead of so many better and more interesting singers is enough to give me a headache. We can’t know exactly who the people are that vote for Little Mr. Archuleta every week, but it stands to reason that the demographic is young and female. The overwhelming screams that rain out from the crowd every time he takes the stage is evidence enough, and historically the teen vote has been about the most important type of vote on American Idol. I hate to say it – but the signs point to Archuleta winning the competition. Anyways, these American Idol rankings are not based on my personal views. They are meant to be objective as possible.
#10 – Kristy Lee Cook
She should have been voted off this week and, while I’d say it’s 50/50 that she goes home next week, she’ll be gone soon enough. You can’t be in the bottom two for this long and not go home soon.
#9 – Syesha Mercado
Even with her impressive performance of “Yesterday” I fear that Syesha is in trouble. I think she’s got enough talent to keep impressing voters, but she’s going up against a good crop of other ladies. She was in the bottom three last week (I thought she’d be sent home) and one more poor performance could seal her doom.
#8 – Chikezie Eze
He’s avoided the bottom three two weeks running, and he seems to have some mojo going. That might have just been his abilities lining up well with The Beatles, but who knows? Perhaps Chikezie will be the sleeper this year. I need another week to be fully convinced, though.
#7 – Carly Smithson
I’m going to count her bottom three appearance this week as an aberration. Her fans will now be motivated to vote after this scare. If she ends up in the bottom three again this week, she’s in serious trouble.
#6 – Michael Johns
Since Johns has yet to be in the bottom three, like everyone else below him on the list, it’s hard to rank him. Fans seem to be souring on him lately, and he’s yet to live up to his potential. If he can get on track, Johns has a legitimate chance to make the top three. But, if he keeps going on the same track he’s been on, number six seems about right.
#5 – Ramiele Malubay
Ramiele’s the big wild card in the Top Ten. Like Jasmine Trias before her, Ramiele may have a huge and motivated fan base. If this is the case, her performance quality may not matter.
#4 – Jason Castro
The ladies like him, the judges like him and he’s different. Chalk him up for a definite Top 6 appearance.
#3 – David Cook
Cook could be the first pure rock singer to win the whole thing. If he doesn’t get too arrogant and keeps finding ways to present unique performances, I do believe he could win. Unfortunately, he’s going up against the darling of the competition in David Archuleta.
#2 – Brooke White
After Carly found herself in the bottom 3, I knew that Brooke would be the last female standing. Even when she has a dud performance like this week’s, she’s still pretty adorable. Her fans won’t waver on voting for her, though it seems that their a lot of people out there vehemently against her. She’s a lock for the Top 4.
#1 – David Archuleta
And here we are. On Dial Idol, it looks like Archuleta is destroying the competition when it comes to votes. That should change once the field gets smaller, but it’s significant. I foresee an anti-Archuleta campaign beginning sometime in the Top 6. Maybe that’s just me grasping at straws. He’s probably going to win.
Is anyone else really annoyed by David A.’s loud breaths when singing? Yes, he has a fantastic voice, but I can’t listen to him due to the breathing. David C. and Brooke are my favorites, and Carly has the potential to become one of my favorites.
I think Johns could knock Jason out of the top 4 if he pulls it together, his vote total on dialidol is among the highest, even after last week. The top 3 is such solid lock, it is almost anti-climactic. I can see no scenerio where Archuleta, David Cook or Brooke are not the final three.
Yeah. I’d say the top 4 is pretty solid, I can’t imagine anyone else sneaking into it. And much as David A. may not be your favorite (I can’t stand him), it will take a miracle for him not to win. The only time he’ll be in the bottom three is when only three people remain.
I like both Jason Castro and David Cook better than David A Brooke White is my favorite of the women.Michael Johns has been disapointing. Both David A, David C and Jason have screaming fans. David A is getting the grandma vote too.
The rankings seem about right. I would put Seyesha ahead of CHickezee and Carly. SHe will do better now that the format isn’t so restrictive. The producers have to favor her because she was the one who got to sing Yesterday, which I am sure many of the contestants requested. The Beatles were a tough draw for a lot of the ladies, especially Seyesha and KLC. Imagine how the guys would do if they could ONLY sing country songs or Whitney songs. I would not be surprised if the producers evaluate the value of Ramielle’s votes and she gets voted off after her next bad/boring performance.
