Best bets: TV and Movies Must-See Tonight

Frontline: Bush’s War conclusion, 9-11 p.m., PBS. With the quick victory in Iraq, optimism soared. “People were just in pure exhilaration,” Donald Rumsfeld, then secretary of defence, says. Then came the bad news, starting with looting. Retired Gen. Jay Garner, temporarily in charge of post-war Iraq, says he was stunned by plans to fire the Iraqi army and all Baathists. Garner says one colleague warned: “You’re going to drive 30,000 to 50,000 Baathists underground by nightfall.” The terrorist attacks soon followed.

OTHER CHOICES

The Rick Mercer Report, 8 p.m., CBC. Oh, to be in the shoes of Rick Mercer for a day. The host of The Rick Mercer Report tackles more fun adventures in this season finale, first learning how to kite ski on the Ottawa River and then cycling on a brakeless bike on one of the world’s steepest tracks right here in London in a segment filmed just last week.

Dancing With the Stars, 8 and 9 p.m., ABC, CTV. First are excerpts, showing the performances last week and Monday. Then comes the results show, with two people voted off.

American Idol, 8-9:30 p.m., Fox. The final 10 perform. Sadly, that doesn’t include the powerhouse Amanda Overmyer, who was ousted last week.

NCIS, 8 p.m., CBS. This plot has been used before: Someone has already been poisoned; he’s still alive and wants his killer-to-be found.

Jericho, 10 p.m., CBS. Here’s the series finale for a terrific series, cancelled now. By now, Jake realizes the Cheyenne-based government is a corrupt conspiracy. Can he get the proof to the Texas-based government?

Til Death, 9:30 p.m., Fox. Here’s a new episode, sampling what’s ahead. More new episodes begin April 16, with a character we meet tonight, played by J.B. Smoove. Reluctantly doing a good deed, Eddie decides to be a Big Brother volunteer. An administrative error means he isn’t with the sort of lad he’d expected.
