Eugenic Industry and Human-centered Economy 1
The eugenic industry can not only lead to the appearance of numerous genius prodigies, but also enable them to surpass all past genius prodigies in every aspect.
First of all，let’s trace back to mankind’s history of eugenics：
Sir Francis Galton, Darwin’s cousin, put forward the concept of “eugenics” for the first time in history in 1833, but in fact, mankind has never been subject to the mercy of nature since the ancient times. Even in the ancient times characterized by a very low productive power, people also took all kinds of measures to ensure their descendants would be healthier and brighter.
People of the ancient Sparta bathed their new-born infants with wine. If the baby was safe and sound, it showed the baby was strong enough, and they would keep him(her) alive；Some babies could not bear such a torture, which showed they were weak, then, they would put them to death to eliminate weak ones, and in this way they kept their nation strong and prosperous.
In many primitive tribes，there is an unwritten stipulation: Whenever they find a new-born is deformed or handicapped, they will put him to death without exception, and strictly prohibited intermarriage within directly-related members of a family, so as to guarantee the clan’s prosperity.
Plato stresses eugenics especially in his Utopia, saying that, for the prosperity of the state, the government should exercise administrative intervention to personal marital relationship, especially in birth, it should do strict planning and control.
We have already entered the 21st century. In such a great new century，we must go beyond the traditional ways of eugenics，and go all out to develop the eugenic industry. The eugenic industry means using high-tech eugenics technology, namely biologic technology and life technology represented by gene technology, to optimize and reform human gene directly, and applying such an eugenics technology to industrialized operation.
In no distant future, mankind may generate perfect descendants through gene reform, which has become the consensus of many scientists. Eugenics by way of gene technology can not only avoid genetic diseases，but also improve the person’s appearance, physique, intelligence quotient, conduct, character, temperament and so on. Such eugenics is unexampled to any previous eugenics of mankind!
Eugenics through technology has become an inevitable trend. Here, we do not discuss the technical feasibility of eugenic industry, and just analyze it in terms of economy.
It goes without saying, a new industry’s prospect and fate will depend on the market demand. People’s eugenic demand is far stronger than ordinary demands. “Children First” is the paramount idea of many families, and parents place their greatest hope on their children. According to an investigation，when householders are asked what they live for, most of them answer：For children!
For children，they can spend anything；For children，they can sacrifice anything；For children，they can bear any great suffering；For children，they can accept any hardships! Especially in the present China characterized by the single-child family, people’s attention to their children is greater than any time in the past：For the child, they save a huge amount of money; for the child, they are ready to spend a lot of money; for the child, they do great investment. The whole life of Chinese parents is just for the child. Whether a male or female，for the child，they spare no cost.
A man wants to have a child. When his pals invited him to play in the bar at the weekend, he shook his hand again and again: “No. You go yourself. I’ve got to care about my future son.” Now the chief reason for the call to let women return to the home is “for children”. You see, the children’s future can drag the greatest feminist back to her home. People’s desire for investment in their children’s education is much stronger than their desire for investment in their own education. Just take a look at the roaring business of the “noblesse” kindergartens and schools, the booming sales of home training books and home teaching reports, you may see parents’ great enthusiasm in educational investment and the great popularity of the concept “for the child”. Then，the eugenic industry that is closely related to the fate of the child will surely trigger an even greater demand!
Which father or mother does not hope their own child be the best? Which nation or country does not wish its own next generation to become the best? Do you wish your child to become a virtuous, wise, able, strong and good-looking person, or a vulgar, selfish, lazy, stupid, imbecile, weak and ugly person? The answer goes without saying. If you know there is such a method that can help your child have genes for becoming more beautiful, healthier and more intelligent, you will certainly take it. It is out of our common humanity. And it is just where the market power lies, and it determines the greatest market prospect for the eugenic industry.
The eugenic industry that conforms to the strong wish and great consumer demand of the general public has no reason to be rejected, and has no reason to be decried. It is totally different from the genocide driven by horror and animosity in the disguise of eugenics in the last century：One is a cruel fascist political massacre while the other is a fine and voluntary business behavior；One is an extremely terrible human tragedy while the other is a great matter with an ever-lasting value. The difference is as vast as between Heaven and Hell!
There are two major factors deciding a person’s quality: nature and nurture. Along with the continual deep-going of people’s understanding of the gene, scientists are getting more and more surprised at the great role that gene plays in deciding a person’s quality and fate, even to the extent that many scientists think “Inheritance prevails education”. According to scientists, all the seven original sins listed by the Christianity of the Dark Ages, namely, anger, greed, theft, avarice, raping or seducing, false pride, and homicide, have much to do with genetic elements, at least 50% comes from the DNA.
Both education industry and eugenics industry concern “human production”. Education aims at postnatal improvement while eugenics is meant for congenital optimization. Both determine people’s quality and fate.
Nowadays，most people have a great fervor for educational consumption. According to a survey by China Zero-point Market Research Company, in urban families of China, the educational expenditure for children has become the item that grows fastest among all their items of expenditure. Families like doing educational investment very much，and so does the state. The government is becoming more and more aware that education is the most important, and prosperity of the state chiefly depends on education.
Judging from the rising education industry and the accelerated growth of educational investment, it is easy to imagine that the eugenics industry will be prosperous for certain, and the eugenic market will flourish for sure. In future economy，the eugenics industry will, like the education industry, unfold and establish a series of brand-new concepts of different levels, such as eugenic service, eugenic demand, eugenic choice，eugenic opportunities, eugenic rights and interests，eugenic market, eugenic business, eugenic exploitation, eugenic contribution ratio，eugenic trust, eugenic savings, eugenic stock, eugenic banks, eugenics industrial groups and so on.
Whether for the individual or the family or the state, their purpose in stressing education and investing in education is only one: for improving personal quality. Personal quality is the base of all things. The level of the quality is the primary cause of the fate of the individual, the family or even the whole nation. Personal quality not only hangs upon postnatal education，but also depends on the innate gene. The congenital is more fundamental than the postnatal. In the past，we were always powerless before the “congenital”, so, we belittled or disregarded “the congenital”, focused all our attention and time onto the postnatal education. Now，we have already had the efficient path and feasible program for changing “the congenital” and optimizing “the congenital”, that is, we can use gene technology and eugenic industry to enhance personal quality. Why not take action at once?
In comparison with the education industry (postnatal project), the eugenics industry (congenital project) has its unique advantages. Education not only needs to spend a lot of monetary cost，but also needs to pay precious and long life cost or time cost；It involves both personal cost and family cost，especially the life cost of the person himself for more than a dozen years or even scores of years, the parents’ great deal of time, energy and life cost, and the risk cost (For example, if you send a small child abroad for study, you will have to bear the risk of “losing your child”). Moreover, it also includes social cost (the input by the state and the society for every citizen’s education).But the greatest advantage of eugenics just lies in its saving of time cost，you can get it done once and for ever，without any time cost or life cost of the person himself and his parents, then you can benefit from it greatly all your life. Meanwhile，eugenics may also greatly shorten the education term so as to enhance the educational efficiency greatly. Now，one person needs to spend a dozen or more years or even longer time in education before he is able to serve the society；In the future，as human natural predisposition has been improved through eugenics, the term of years for education may be greatly shortened，so, all the present “wonder child classes” will become “ordinary classes”. In the ancient times, Gan Luo became a prime minister at the age of 12. In future，with eugenics, everyone may become Gan Luo after an education of three or five years.
Therefore，we should not only invest greatly in education but also invest greatly in eugenics. The investment in eugenics can by no means be replaced by investment in education. Whoever invests in it will benefit. If the family invests in eugenics, the family will benefit；If the state invests in eugenics, the state will benefit. The state will be the greatest investor and beneficiary of the eugenics industry. Just like education industry, eugenics industry is a great social undertaking，and can also bring a huge economic benefit，being a special industry able to contribute greatly to economy. It is a basic industry in deed, full of strategic significance.
Economic activities are chiefly production activities. Production activities are the foundation for the existence and development of mankind and human society.
Production falls into two categories: one is the production of materials，and the other is the production of humans. Production of humans is more important than production of materials. Engels points out in his Origin of the Family, Private Ownership and Nation: “Production can be classified into two kinds. On the one hand, it is the production of means of subsistence, namely food, clothing, houses and the necessary tools for them; on the other hand, it is the production of mankind itself, namely breeding of the race.”
In comparison between these two kinds of production, it is easy to find：Production of mankind itself is more fundamental. On the one hand，the ultimate objective of production of material objects is for people, for people’s happiness and for people’s development；On the other hand，human is the most active and most decisive factor in production, or we may say, “The most essential condition for a production to go on is the workman”，and the workman is just the result of production of mankind itself.
The concept “production of mankind itself” is never a static and unchangeable one, but should develop in step with the times. If we just rest on Engels’ understanding and regard the production of mankind itself only as “multiplication of the human race”, we shall only come to such a conclusion: what we need is just to control and adjust the population according to the need and possibility of production of material objects. Of course, such a conclusion is far from enough for us. Nowadays，there are already some men of insight pointing out that education is “human reproduction”，only by education can we make a human become a human in the real sense, and education is just “shaping humans” and “producing humans”. In my opinion, production of mankind itself never only refers to multiplication of the race, nor should only indicate education development. In the present time，its full connotation should chiefly refer to overall optimization of mankind itself by the aid of high technology so as to make people develop most perfectly, becoming the real, complete, ideal and perfect people. The aforesaid “birth optimization through technology”, “body optimization through technology” and “education optimization through technology” have already covered all aspects of human production through high technology.
Human-centered economy is more important than material economy. As there are two kinds of production, there are also two kinds of economy accordingly. What corresponds to the production of materials is the material economy，whereas what corresponds to the production of humans is the human-centered economy. Human-centered consumption is more important than material consumption. For example，between buying a car and buying a product that can enable people to become younger for ten years, and at the same price, which will you choose? I think most people will choose the latter. We can say definitely, the benefit and pleasure brought about by buying a car cannot be compared with the benefit and pleasure brought about by making people younger for ten years. The human-centered consumption that makes people young forever, omniscient and extremely beautiful and so on is far better than material consumption such as automobiles, not only in benefit and happiness, but also in resource consumption and environmental protection, as it costs the least resources and is most environment-friendly. In future economy，we shall shift gradually from material consumption to human-centered consumption，then，enterprises investing greatly in human production will become mainstream enterprises，and human production will also become the main content of economy. The human-centered economy taking eugenics industry and education industry as the main will take the leading position in future economy.
